The Blissful Bathroom
From Multiples to Minimalistic
This bathroom, while officially belonging to the parents of the family, is used by all — I mean, check out that awesome soaking tub! What really helped speed along the sorting process was the multitude of plastic handled totes my client bought from the dollar store in advance to help us categorize. I don’t typically suggest my clients buy anything before our sessions, but I SO appreciated that she thought about this ahead of time! While sorting, a recurring theme came up — multiples! Multiple shampoos, conditioners, etc. This was exciting for me to see. Why? Because making sure my client’s multiples are organized in the same place means they won’t accidentally buy more of something they don’t need. Saving people money is one of my favorite things about being an organizer, whether it’s in the form of product multiples, organizational bins already in the home, or finding unused gift cards in paper piles. Once expired medicines and other unnecessary items were tossed, and the sorting was completed, it was a matter of finding the right home for each of the categories. I repurposed the drawer bins from the closet to be used in the bathroom cabinets, which happened to fit perfectly. Conversely, the closet was outfitted with extra bins that the client already had. Grab-and-go items like medicines were placed on the shelves on the door of the closet. Everything found a new home, including the girls’ favorite bath bombs which were given their own decorative box by the bathtub.
