The Cluttered Closet

Stuffed to Streamlined

My client called on me to help her tame her master closet. Life happens, and when you are busy, things end up on the backburner. A back injury exacerbated the situation, making it hard for her to clear things that had piled up, off the floor. I had my client sit in a comfortable chair in the bedroom and brought out small piles at a time for her to look through. She decided on items she wanted to keep, donate, or toss. While she went through her piles, I focused on putting all the like hanging items together — short sleeve tops, pants, and folded the sweaters and jeans. It’s important not to get overwhelmed, so we set up a second day and I brought in a team member to help finish the project. Intermixed with the clothing was a lot of beauty care and other bathroom essentials that we were able to put on some of the shelves. As often is the case, once you declutter, you end up with more space! Once the floor was clear, the client was able to view the clothing we hung up and folded so she could decide what she wanted to keep or donate when she was ready. My client kindly decided to let go of some jewelry, clothing, and beauty care, which I took to a center for women going back into the workforce.
